About this blog

This is the new RSS import from my old blog site for the weather coverage for the folks that may be running an event at the Lincoln Airport site. For those that don't know, this site is where the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) holds the annual Solo National Championship as well as National Tour and ProSolo events. It's a huge expanse of concrete our in the middle of corn fields that can be a dangerous place to be during bad weather.

The original blog post started last year (September 2018) on my old blog site (starting with this post I believe... ( http://blog.northgeorgiawx.com/weather-blog/scca-national-championship-morning-weather-briefing-for-friday-august-31). It was probably one of if not the rainiest National Championship ever, and I am VERY glad I missed it. I will be going back again this year to try one more time to finish better than 3rd place, and maybe the last time, we'll see. But whether I go again or not, I'll still be covering the weather. 🙂

I'll try to be quiet while you sleep.... it's 3:28 am here in Atlanta, do you know where your cars are? 🙂 There are some light showers moving into the Lincoln area right now and they may linger through the early morning hours, bu most of the day should be dry.    Recording #147.mp4     Here's the hour by hour   Here are the expected temperature anomalies (GFS) through the end of next week. Sun-Tue will be warm, but great after that.

Good morning! I guess you heard the rain moving through during the overnight hours, it is now pushed southeast of Lincoln and today to should a relatively dry day to kick off the ProSolo! This is a combined radar/water vapor loop, and the numbers are dewpoints. Much drier air is moving into southeast Nebraska and today should feel great. About 15 seconds into the loop I switch from dewpoint to temperatures. Lincoln Friday AM.mp4   The NWS hour by hour forecast looks grea

Good morning fellow Solo people! 🙂 Sounds like aliens to me.  I know we have a lot of people onsite for tomorrow's ProSolo, so this section has to to with this afternoon and evening. There will be severe weather in the area, please make sure everything is secure, and the car is in a trailer if you have one.  So please stay weather aware later this afternoon and evening. I will be around and making updates on the FB page if necessary.   Soooo, for tomorrow and Saturday.

Good morning! 🙂 Before we talk about Nebraska weather, just a little bit about Dorian. I know we have a lot of people from Florida that are going to be headed to Lincoln, and Dorian "may" have a significant impact on Florida. I know most Floridians have their go to people for tropical information as well as the obvious NHC, but I'm tracking Dorian as well with frequent updates throughout the day. So if you or someone you know has any interest near the east coast of Florida, you can follow m

Good morning! A little rough weather moving through Lincoln this morning, so not a very good day to be outdoors. And that same scenario may hold true for Thursday as a cold front pushes through the state bringing showers and thunderstorms along with cooler temperatures. The radar this morning isn't looking too good right now. I don't like the hook in the storm to the north of Lincoln, and the storm to the south certainly has some hail in it.   To the thinking for

Sunday, August 25

Good afternoon to everyone! Here's the first look at the forecast for the ProSolo, as we're now in the range of the actual National Weather Service forecast, and this is what it looks like. http://www.daculaweather.com/4_track_lincoln.php   Lo and behold... below normal temps and a chance for rain. Who woulda thought? 😜 Here are the thoughts from the Omaha NWS office.   Friday is looking a little wet and this is what the Weather Prediction Center 6 hour rainf

Hump Day! 🙂    I guess people that are running the ProSolo will start to arrive in Lincoln around the middle of next week, so we are now within the range to start looking ahead a little bit.   Both the major models and their ensembles point to cooler than normal temps and around normal for precip for the first part of the event. The central part of the country will be sandwiched between two ridges, and for Lincoln, that would generally mean cooler temperature

Monday August 19

We are now getting within distance of the main deterministic models and it is looking like a relatively cool Nationals! Both the major models (and their ensembles) are showing a trough in the central part of the country during that time frame, and for Lincoln, that generally means cooler temperatures.    Here's a look at the GEFS high/low temps   Notice a downward trend in the temps and moisture.   It appears the GFS is trying to bring a cold

Let me answer that from here... yes you do. 🙂  Here's a look at the morning radar look at 4:30 am Lincoln time Lincoln-27.mp4   Radar estimated rainfall amounts   Here's the word about today from the Omaha NWS office:   So after the rain is over later this morning, it should be a fairly nice day at the airport.  Have a great day and a safe ride home!!! 🙂

2019 Tire Rack Lincoln Spring Nationals Champ Tour Weather - Sunday

Good Sunday morning to everyone! Looks like Lincoln was brushed with some showers last night, but luckily the heavier stuff stayed to the south.   From the SPC Severe Weather Outlook maps, it appears the severe weather is dancing all around Lincoln, but it's afraid to get any closer, so it waits until Tuesday before making an appearance.      All in all... not a bad day forecast. Most of the rain, if it rains, will fall in the evenings, leaving some ni

2019 Tire Rack Lincoln Spring Nationals Champ Tour Weather - Saturday

Good Saturday morning to everyone! Decided to use the new blog site instead of the old one, so it may look a little different here today! But first, a reminder that I have a page that is devoted to the weather at Lincoln, so anytime you like to see what's going on there, use this link to check it out.  http://www.daculaweather.com/4_track_lincoln.php The bullseye for the severe weather keeps shifting around and luckily, Lincoln isn't in the worst of it. But even if it's not the worst,

This blog is sucking the content from my old blog via a RSS feed, and it doesn't always get the formatting correct, so I may do some of the blog post directly from this site. Anyway... this was from this is morning... sort of. 😛        Good Friday morning to everyone! We have some active weather on Lincoln's doorstep for this afternoon and evening, and I know some strong storms came through last night.  If you travel with your car in a trailer, that's great. There will be

Welcome back to Lincoln and welcome back to the Lincoln weather! Without wasting any of your time (I hope), let's get to an overview of what may be in store for the event this weekend. The last thing that you want to hear when you're on that wide open concrete cornfield is that there is severe weather around, because there is absolutely no place to go.  With that being said... there is a chance for severe weather for at least three of the days you'll be there. Keep in mind, these Risk area
