As of 11am in Sky Valley, it is 34 degrees with rain and a mostly melted snow flakes mixing in from time to time. We have had a little over a quarter inch of rain though.

38.5 to 39 in Sugar Hill. Pretty consistent over the last couple hours. Will get a heavy downpour and it will drop a half degree then raise after it finishes.

I've only varied 0.2º over the last hour and twenty minutes or so. 39º F now... Of course I guess you can see that in my signature!

It’s currently 41° here in Hiawassee. A good bit warmer than expected. It’s gone up 3 degrees over the past two hours.

GSP update

Quote

NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 1115 AM: A few morning adjustments were made to the going
forecast in light of slightly warmer 850 mb temperatures on the 12Z
FFC raob than apparent in the numerical models, and slightly colder
expected Sunday AM surface temperatures penetrating farther south in

the cold wedge. These adjustments give slightly more confidence to
upgrading the northern portion of the lingering Winter Storm Watch
to a Warning, and posting a Winter Weather Advisory for the southern
piedmont where light icing is looking a bit more likely early Sunday.

Do you know what your elevation is there?

It was 37 here in Gainesville an hour ago..not sure at the moment. According to what you know and see..should I expect to see any snow flakes or is it just solely rain and freezing rain here?

Here's the current map.

The cold air we need will come from big blue high pressure to the north . ITY is starting to make its way across the mountains (the bulge where the green arrow is). The green arrow points to the pressure "bulge" pushing southwest. The blue line is the current freezing line, so you can see no one is at freezing anywhere around us. This will all all change later this evening.

The HRRR is continuously initializing 3-4 degrees warmer than the actual temperature. Could that have an impact later on?

Yes

I hope you will continue to post these sorts of graphics as the evening goes on. Anything to give us snow hounds hope....
