Potential Winter Threat - December 6-11

Recommended Posts

The temps are finally dropping consistently. We are hovering above freezing at about 33 now in Hiawassee, and there is a heavy rain/snow mix coming down.

Steve are you able to start a post on the fb page for what people are seeing and where?

I could be mistaken, but I think he did. Posted it on here a few pages ago.

It's interesting, the HRRR model clears out the precip but the latest GFS out holds precip in here through Tuesday.

Could just be the hrrr being in it's "long range" and changes as we trend closer.

I'm on the Grayson Lawrenceville line. Looks like rain but the wind is wicked!

Thermometer diped to 39 and is back up to 40? Thing could be broken, who knows?

Because I'm not from here, I don't know a lot of cities by name in my area. I'm more knowledgeable on counties. Could I ask a favor that you also post the county with city you guys are posting from? I'm thoroughly enjoying tracking your reports and the rapidly changing weather on this crazy system.

Just for reference:

Buford is Northern Gwinnett
Oakwood is Southern Hall
Dacula is Eastern Gwinnett

Them boys up in the mountains will have to tell you their counties...  🙂

Definitely coming down good here right now, still mixed with sleet at times but the rates are impressive nonetheless. East wind has finally kicked in, only at around 15 albeit, but the few points immediately responded to the fresh burst of dry air and the temperature followed. 32.1 now and looking like we may finally go below freezing today.
