Good morning to everyone! Other than the rain that just ended, not a lot of weather to talk about for us just yet. We're going to have a week off from any precipitation and the cold air and return to close to normal temperatures. But don't put up the coats yet... because it's starting to look like Winter start right after Thanksgiving. Can you tell I'm excited about our winter possibilities? I can feel the 18" of snow I've been missing out on all these years. 😛

If your excited about our winter possibilities that means we are excited about our winter possibilities!! I'm the optimist in my house and the more I read what you post the more I think we have a good chance of a great winter however I'm surrounded by pessimists I'm my house because every storm is always just north of us so they just need a good snow storm!

12-18 days is what they were referring to on the twitter posts.  That would put it right at the end of the month.   My understanding by just gleaning by the references is we are looking at multiple events, and not one event and then warmer weather?  This looks to be once it starts we will go from system to system with possibilities?

You misread my jumbled post...  lol..  I meant when the cold hits and any wintry event happens--- it will not be a one time event correct, then just warm back up.  It will remain cold and we will have multiple opportunities for snow?

My bad.

Simply looking at what "appears" to be the upcoming pattern, but after Thanksgiving the blocking that we've been waiting on looks to actually take hold with some staying power. December looks to be below normal for temps with above normal moisture, and you know what happens when that occurs. There will be warm ups in between the shots of cold air, but the warm ups will be brief and not very warm. I see increased chances for winter weather as we head into December.

Here's a picture of the top of a lenticular cloud over the Clingmans Dome area in the Smokies yesterday. It was 45 degrees in the parking lot with 20 mph winds. At the same time, it was 60 in Gatlinburg.
