Good Sunday morning to everyone!

Well, I'm sure everyone wants to know about Tuesday, correct?

Overnight the weather models weren't as bullish as I expected to see them, but the chance for some light snow is still in the picture. Here's the latest image and discussion from the Atlanta NWS office

Period starts out with a wintry weather scenario for much of north
Georgia. Models coming into better agreement, but still a good bit
of uncertainty to the forecast due to the reliance of p-type on the
juxtaposition of the better precipitation rates and the falling
temperatures behind the sharp cold front sweeping through. Current
trends keep the transition line between some accumulation and little
or no accumulation approximately down the Chattahoochee River, which
leaves the northern and western Atlanta suburbs into the far north
with the best chances for meaningful accumulations. Still far enough
out into the forecast, and confidence, although increasing, still low
enough to wait on the issuance of any Winter Weather Watches at this
time. System is a fast moving one, so wintry precipitation chances
essentially start in the far northwest around daybreak Tuesday and
sweep across north Georgia through the morning with precipitation
exiting the eastern side of the forecast area by late afternoon/early
evening.

I'll share three images below. NWS forecast snow amounts, best case (max amounts) and worst case (min amounts). As you can see, this is currently a marginal system in terms of accumulations, although black ice will certainly be an issue. I would expect that most of the north Georgia schools will be closed on Tuesday.

All of this is still subject to change.

Oh how I wish the max image would come true.  Otherwise, Dacula won't be getting much of anything.  Drat!

It is looking like the Athens area is missing out again! It appears we need a Miller A storm that tracks really close to the Florida/Georgia border to bring anything other than a dusting or flurries to the Athens area! Too bad we can’t get back into the pattern we had in November! That month gave me false hope that we might have a good winter for a change, but it hasn’t worked out so far! Maybe things will change after our blowtorch week after next???
