Good Friday morning to you! Just need to finish up this day and the weekend is here!

Some good news this morning concerning the potential for severe weather tomorrow and it appears that Georgia will be on the weak end of the severe weather.

First... the Storm Prediction Center:

Quote

By late afternoon into the evening, the
shortwave trough and strongest mid-level flow will become
increasingly displaced to the north of the greater low-level
moisture across the TN Valley and Southeast. Still, some severe
threat may persist into parts of middle TN and northern/central AL.

And the Atlanta NWS office:

Models generally in agreement that even using most
unstable CAPE values, we are only able to max out less at less
than 500 J/KG through Sat night. Shear on the other hand is quite
impressive despite the distant parent low with values in excess of
500 m2/s2 across the far northern tier. SigTor from the GFS does
reach a value of 1 but it will be difficult to create updrafts
capable of supporting such shear given the instability values. As
such SPC keeps slight risk largely west of the region for the Day
2 forecast. Getting first look at some of the hi res solutions for
this event and not all that impressive during the overnight period
but wouldn't take much change in these solutions to take advantage
of aforementioned shear.

Sunday continues the chance,  but the conditions are not as favorable and are centered further south.

Other than that, the only other thing to talk about is the same thing we've been talking about for months... rain.

The next 72 hours looks like this:

While the next 7 days is like this:

So... showers on the increase today and a chance for thunderstorms tomorrow.

Enjoy the day!

Here's a great chance to view the NEW Weatherbell model page!! From March 8-15th, there is a free open preview for everyone! The only thing is the Euro will not be there due to the licensing agreement and the amount of models and model data is limited, but still plenty to look at. 🙂 Take a look!

Updated SPC outlook area shrinking to the west. The image I posted this morning was a link to the image, so that has probably already changed.

They say happiness is a warm blanket, I say it is a shrinking risk area
