Administrators NorthGeorgiaWX Posted March 4 Administrators Posted March 4 Good Monday afternoon! There is a lot of weather to talk about, but very simply put, it's going to be wet. Today won't be a bad day. We still have some mid-level clouds around, which is suppressing our temperatures at the moment, but those areas that are getting some sunshine are rocketing up to the 70's. I'm not sure we'll get that high today because I believe that the clouds won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Tomorrow starts another rainy period, as a trough lifts out of the Gulf and increases the moisture levels to saturation, but the bulk of the rain should hold off until later in the day. We may hear some thunder tomorrow, but severe weather is not expected, as the bulk of the rain producing storms come through during the overnight hours, reducing the available CAPE that the storms will have to work with. Rainfall totals through Wednesday are expected to be in the 1-2" range, but isolated amounts over 2" will be possible. We have a brief break in the rain from midday Wednesday and into Thursday, but don't get used to it. Precipitable water values soar close to record values for this time of the year, bringing very heavy rainfall across north Georgia. Due to the previously soaked soils, there is a considerable concern for flash flooding all across the area. Stream and river flows will already be elevated, and this may push some of those out of their banks. At least we should be warm, with high temperatures running 7-12 degrees above normal, while the lows run almost 15-18 degrees above normal. Feels like spring has sprung doesn't it? Not so fast..... we cool back down on Sunday and stay cool through mid-week, so don't put away the winter clothes just yet. Hope everyone has a great Monday! Neither of us can login, and I've been through all of the steps to get back in to no avail. If you see any crazy activity on the Facebook page, let me know. Not that there is much I can do about it.
