Good morning! In case you haven't looked out the window yet, it's cloudy out there this morning. 🙂 We have a little system that is passing to our north, and the southern tail end of that system is bringing some light showers along with the clouds across the northern part of Georgia. Most people won't see any precipitation as this system passes by, but a light shower can't be ruled out across the top two tier of counties across north Georgia. I think that by noon, those chances should be gone for most people. There is an area of a little heavier rain that I will be watching as it makes its way toward us, but it should get lifted to the north and miss us. This wil…

Good morning! I am going to keep this real short today. We're going to have some beautiful weather through Sunday, so there just isn't much to ramble on about. The rain that is over Arkansas and Missouri will pass to our north, but we may see some high clouds over our area as it passes by, otherwise, we will have a beautiful day in store for today. These are the forecast highs through Tuesday. We won't have any rain for 5 days, so no need to show a blank map. 🙂 As you can see, sunny skies and warm temperatures will be the norm through Sunday! Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Good morning! For the most part, the rain is over. There are still some showers on the east side of the state but those will be lifting out shortly, and cooler/drier air will be moving in to replace it. In this water vapor image, the red represents the drier air. At this point, nothing but nice weather ahead. It will be cool through Wednesday morning, but after that we shoot right up to the 70's and 80's for high temps. The high temps through Sunday are pretty much normal for a late April spring, maybe just a little above normal for the weekend. Low temps start off cold but quickly warm up as we head through the wee…

Good morning! We are starting off the morning with mostly clear skies and the first half of the day won't be too bad, but showers and thunderstorms return this afternoon and into tomorrow. Rainfall across north Georgia won't be too excessive, with 1-2" of rain through Monday afternoon. The heavier rain will fall to our south along the stalled frontal boundary. Our temperatures will cool down beginning late Monday, and Tuesday will be the coolest day of the week. But after that begins a quick warm up that will take our highs from below to above normal and into the 80's by late week and the weekend. We'll have about 4 days of the…

Good morning! We went and saw "Rain" last night at the Fox Theater. It's a Beatles tribute band and it was an awesome show. But how fitting it's called "Rain". rain.mp4 The rain has left us for now, but it's not over. We have another system that will impact us later today/tonight and then another one tomorrow. You can see the next system that is located over Arkansas that will impact our weather later today. Those storms are sliding southeast in the direction of the yellow arrows, while the entire system is moving east (red arrow). That box is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and you can see 4-5 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in the box. …

Good morning! We are all waking up to sunny skies this morning, and today will be a beautiful day across north Georgia. Those yellow circles show the areas with a weak mid level high pressure, and that will help to keep us dry and mild today. We will see some rain and maybe a few thunderstorms on Saturday and Saturday night, have a short break during the day on Sunday, and returning showers and thunderstorms Sunday night into Monday. Rainfall through 8 PM Sunday. We extend that out to next Friday and it looks like this. It has been a drawn out and weak pollen season so far. I suspect that part of the reason for that…

Good morning! The rain has pretty much passed our area at this 6 AM hour, although there will be some additional rain passing through over the next couple of hours. We are apparently living a charmed life since we missed the severe weather once again. 🙂 Nothing to really talk about today, normal temperatures and normal rain with no severe weather for the next 4 to 5 days. Springtime in Georgia. 😉 Over the next 7 days, our temperatures overall will remain below normal. While we may have below normal temperatures, we also expect to have above normal precipitation. The first image are WPC forecast totals and the second image …

Good morning! We start the morning off with some very light scattered showers today, and that will be the main story for the day. The severe weather will remain to our west and I don't expect to see any across north Georgia. There could be a couple of strong thunderstorms later today and this evening, but once again we will be without the needed instability to sustain any severe weather. I do not anticipate any severe weather across north Georgia today or tomorrow. Today's severe weather outlook leaves most of north Georgia in a "Marginal Risk" area, as we'll be on the weaning end of the peak of the severe weather. Our greates…

Good morning! Most of north Georgia is starting the morning off cloudy once again as an area of shower and a few thunderstorms passes to our north. I was laying in the bed last night and could see lightning off in the distance to the northeast, and this is roughly where they were. We are going to warm up nicely and this will probably be the warmest day of the spring season for all of north Georgia. The rain will be flirting with us today and tomorrow, but should return tomorrow night with some chances for thunderstorms. We're not expecting any severe weather across north Georgia, only some general showers and thunderstorms. The NW corner o…

Good morning! Well, I'm very late in posting this, I had it all done and just left it sitting here. Fortunately you're not missing much. Sooooo, here is the morning post. 🙂 High clouds are already starting to stream over north Georgia this morning as a weak wave passes through with the upper level winds, and that will bring a chance for some showers later this afternoon. Current (2:25 PM) map. We see light showers moving toward Georgia, but not all of that is even reaching the ground, and what is making it to the surface it very light. The Storm Prediction Center has an "Enhanced Outlook (3/5) to our west on Wednesday. A sliver of no…

Good morning! We are starting off cold once again this morning, but this morning marks the end of the cold weather for a while, and maybe for a long while. The models are in disagreement about the 19th-20th time period, so for now we'll assume that we are done with the cold air. In the the discussion below, the NWS said "Temperatures will finally return to seasonal and it's unlikely that we'll see any more frost or freeze products for the long term forecast." 🙂That's some good news, because it was cold yesterday! I'm ready to get on with the real spring! We are in between the Third Winter and are transitioning to "The Pollening" followed shortly thereafter by "A…

Good morning! So I hear some of you got to see a little snow last night? 🙂 Not too bad for April 8th! I still have a flake or two flying this morning (@7:55 AM) as we still have clouds rotating around the base of the upper level low. This clouds will hang around through much of the day, but hopefully sometime after noon it will start to clear a little. Sunday will be a very different day once we get past sunrise, as our temperatures should rocket back up to more spring like upper 60's to low 70's, and that trend will continue through the work week. There is nothing in particular to talk about today, we'll be cool today but rapidly warm up …

Good morning! I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday! We made a visit to Gibb's Gardens and man, was the pollen blowing! It was still a good trip and I have a few pictures if you'd like to see them. Gibb's Gardens - 04/07/22 - Google Photos PHOTOS.APP.GOO.GL 69 new items added to shared album We have a large upper level low that will be swinging cold air our way today, and shortwaves in that northwest flow will trigger some showers for us later. Tonight we may have enough moisture to wring out a few snow flurries before it all leaves tomorrow. We'll see a rapid warm up starting on Sunday when we climb back toward th…

Good morning! Once again we managed to be very lucky to miss all of the severe weather. We had a few severe thunderstorms across north Georgia, but no tornadoes were reported. The severe weather reports do not match up with the "Enhanced" severe weather outlook that was issued for yesterday, so I would have to call that forecast a bust. However, when it comes to severe weather, I'll take a bust over a confirmation any day. Our area managed to stay in the clouds all day and we never saw the heating that everyone else did. Many areas that saw the sun, rose into the mid 70's to low 80's, but those of us left in the clouds hovered in the 60's. I am truly amazed at …

Good morning! We were very lucky to escape the severe weather yesterday, but we may not be so lucky today. We are under an "Enhanced" Severe Weather Outlook today, with tornadoes and damaging winds being our biggest threat. Fortunately north Georgia, was spared from all of the tornadoes yesterday but I had alerts going off all day long. There were 54 tornado reports across the southeast yesterday, and I counted about 17-18 from Georgia alone. It will take a little while for them to do the storm surveys and they certainly won't get started on that today. I have a link to yesterday's storm reports in chronological order if you care to view them. …

Good morning! We're going to have two rough days of weather where all modes of severe weather will be possible, and the bulk of the severe weather that happens today will occur this evening. Day 2 I will repeat, this is not like the previous systems that have come through here, and there are several reasons why that is not good. The main reason is people tend to get conditioned. If you have enough of the potential severe weather events that don't come to fruition, people tend to take the next systems with less concern. I hear people say "they've been sayin' we'd have severe …

Good morning! Today will be a pretty nice day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 60's, but don't be mislead into thinking the rest of the week will be like today. Severe weather enters the picture on Tuesday and our severe chances continue through Wednesday. North Georgia is in a "Marginal" to "Slight" risk for severe weather on Tuesday, and an "Enhanced" risk on Wednesday, so our severe chances are much greater this go around than with our previous systems. No weather to talk about for today. Most of Georgia is starting out in the 30's to 40's for lows this morning, but those should quickly warm to the 60's and 70's later today with lots of sun…

Good morning! We have a nice day in store for today, but we will have some high clouds around as an upper level shortwave slides across the area. We shouldn't see any rain from it as the lower levels are just too dry, but a few sprinkles aren't out of the question. Tuesday and Wednesday are the two wettest days of the work week, and there will be a chance for severe weather on Wednesday in advance of the cold front. In the morning image, you can see the upper level wave that's moving off to the northeast and taking that blob of rain with it. The tail end of that wave will brush the north Georgia area and will bring us some high clouds during the day today. The…

Good morning! Nothing but nice weather for the next couple of days, but don't get use to it as the rain and thunderstorms return on Tuesday. The pollen count jumped back up today and I would suspect that tomorrow will be even higher. These next few weeks will be the worst of it, so if you are a seasonal allergy sufferer, hang in there. I'm right there with you. The stage is being set for the potential for severe weather on Tuesday and Wednesday. This could go either way, it might just be general showers and thunderstorms, or we may see some organized severe weather. We'll need to watch closely as we get a little closer in time before we know …

Good morning! We start off the morning with temperatures in the 40's across north Georgia, but under bright sunny skies we should rebound back to the 60's for highs today. We will have nice weather though Monday, but don't get use to it. Tuesday through Thursday look to be pretty wet with numerous showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday, and it looks like we may have a chance for some severe weather on Thursday in advance of another cold front. We will remain in a fairly tranquil weather pattern through Monday, but after that we will see the rain return as well as the possibility of severe weather Thursday. We will remain dry through M…

Good morning! We made it through another round of weather without seeing any severe across north Georgia and for that we are always grateful. At this noon hour, the cold front is starting to push cooler, drier air south, and Georgia is right on that leading edge. This was at 11:45 AM. The front has brought a sharp drop in temperatures compared to 11:45 AM yesterday And these were the temps at 11:45 across the US. It still feels like winter across the midwest. The satellite image shows the clouds rotating in with the colder air while the cold front continue to drift south. Those clouds are moving pretty rapid…

Good morning! We have a large area to our west that is under a Tornado Watch this morning, and that area will continue to shift east today. I still don't believe that we'll see severe weather across north Georgia, but we may see some very high winds, and some of those may cause some damage by themselves. We will have a screaming low level jet (~5000 feet) with winds in the 70-90 mph range, and in a thunderstorm, those winds can mix down to the surface in a downdraft and cause considerable damage. The timing of the storms will coincide with the loss of daytime heating, and combined with sub-optimal dew points, means it will be tough to generate any appreciable severe …

Good morning! We are going to begin our warm up today, and I'm already starting off more than 10 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. The morning map shows the warmer temps, and for us that's mostly in the 40's. But also notice the low dew points. The air is still relatively dry, but that dry air will slowly lift off to the north and east and be replaced by much warmer air from the Gulf. That increasing moisture to our west will set the stage for a severe weather outbreak on Wednesday over Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Folks in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, are going to be in for a real mess tomorrow. …

Good morning! Just another day in paradise... unless you have to work, then it's just another day. 🙂 Sorry! While you're inside working, the sun will be shining and the winds will drop back to normal. I had request for that to happen so you're welcome. LOL! Our chance for severe weather Wednesday night/Thursday morning has dwindled to almost nothing, so I don't really think we'll have to worry about that. Once again, the lack of heating will take away the energy needed to drive the severe weather. Thoughts from the Storm Prediction Center. So the severe threat has diminished considerably, and now we might only have some …

Good morning! Another beautiful day is in store for today, and while we will still have some winds around, they won't be as gusty as yesterday, and by tomorrow they will be gone for the most part. We are going to have sunny skies through Wednesday, and starting on Tuesday our temperatures will be jumping up to the 70's, so it's going to feel a lot more like spring. But don't get too use to the 70's just yet, another cool down returns beginning on Friday. I think that our severe weather threat for Thursday has diminished somewhat, but it hasn't entirely gone away, so we'll continue to watch that for any changes. All is quiet across the southeast this m…
